HOW TO COMMISSION

Commissioning a piece of bespoke, handmade jewellery with Karen Cursham can be an exciting experience - resulting in a stunning one-of-a-kind piece created especially for you. All of Karen’s designs can be adjusted to suit different budgets and can be created in different metals. To get started simply contact Karen to discuss your ideas or to arrange an appointment to visit her Leicestershire studio.

As a guide, usually allow between 6 - 8 weeks for completion but timeframes will vary depending on the nature of the piece, the level of design required, sourcing the materials and sending the piece away to be hallmarked by the Birmingham Assay Office.

‘This necklace was designed for a bride who wanted to wear something blue, had a vintage themed wedding and was travelling to India for her Honeymoon. Inspired by the Indian paisley motif, I sourced a large pear shaped aquamarine and set it in a modern collet with 17 diamonds clustered around. This together with the pearl necklace gave a vintage look to the piece’.

You can work with Karen in a number of ways including creating a completely new and bespoke design which will involve an in-depth discussion and design ideas sent to you for approval.

You can customise an existing Karen Cursham design by changing the metal, the elements and where they are placed or by adding precious or semi-precious stones.

‘These wedding rings were designed for a couple who loved the textures in nature and wanted a very industrial modern look to their wedding rings. They also needed something solid and chunky looking to compliment their physical jobs’.

‘This ring started life out as an inherited brooch. The client wanted to keep the style of the setting but wanted something more wearable for her’.

Karen is often approached by clients who have unworn jewellery that holds sentimental value which they would like to be transformed into a new piece of jewellery. High carat yellow gold jewellery, 14ct and above, may be melted down and reworked into something completely new. Alternatively Karen can integrate a stone from a clients existing piece of jewellery into a new customised design.
